Christ calls all people to be Great Commission people. In His last words on the earth, He commissions His disciples to make His name known among all people everywhere. And He does so because He expresses that He has the authority over heaven and earth.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

What does this mean for us dads? How are we to be Great Commission dads?

1. Lead by Example: Show your children what it means to live a life of faith and purpose through your actions, words, and decisions.

2. Teach Biblical Values: Share the teachings of the Bible with your children, focusing on love, kindness, forgiveness, and service to others.

3. Pray Together: Foster a strong prayer life both individually and as a family. Encourage your children to pray and seek guidance from God in all aspects of their lives.

4. Serve Others: Engage in acts of service and charity as a family, showing your children the importance of helping those in need and spreading kindness.

5. Encourage Mission-Mindedness: Teach your children about the importance of sharing their faith with others and being a positive influence in their communities and beyond.

6. Support Spiritual Growth: Provide opportunities for your children to grow spiritually, such as attending church, participating in youth groups, and engaging in discussions about faith and life’s purpose.

7. Be Present: Invest time and effort in building strong relationships with your children. Listen to their thoughts, concerns, and questions about faith and life, and offer guidance and support.

Ultimately, being a Great Commission dad involves living out your faith authentically, nurturing a sense of purpose and service in your children, and guiding them on their own spiritual journeys.
